The Cleveland Monsters beat the Toronto Marlies (24-18-4-4) 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday night at Rocket Arena. With the win, the Monsters are now 27-16-6-1 and are currently in third place in the AHL’s North Division standings.

Toronto’s Logan Shaw scored the only goal of the opening period at 18:00 to make it 1-0 Marlies heading into the first break. Following a scoreless second period the Monsters broke open the third at 4:38 with a goal from Jordan Dumais assisted by Zach Aston-Reese and Will Butcher. Dumais scored his second of the night at 11:55 with Brendan Gaunce on the helper but the Marlies got it back with a goal from Jacob Quillan at 18:31 to send the game to extra time. A scoreless overtime sent the game to a shootout where Luca Del Bel Belluz grabbed the game-winning goal in the second round of the shootout, making the final score 3-2. 

Cleveland’s Ivan Fedotov stopped 23 shots for the win while Toronto’s Dennis Hildeby made 17 saves in defeat.
