MONSTERS SIGN DEFENSEMAN COLIN SWOYER TO PRO TRYOUT CONTRACT
The AHL’s Cleveland Monsters announced Friday that the Monsters signed defenseman Colin Swoyer to a pro tryout (PTO) contract. In 16 appearances for the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye this season, Swoyer posted 3-5-8 with 25 penalty minutes and a +9 rating.
A 6’0”, 192 lb. right-shooting native of Hinsdale, IL, Swoyer, 27, contributed 1-13-14 with 22 penalty minutes and a +3 rating in 45 career AHL appearances for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Hershey Bears spanning parts of three seasons from 2021-24. In 121 career ECHL appearances for the Wheeling Nailers, South Carolina Stingrays, and Toledo spanning parts of four seasons from 2022-26, Swoyer logged 7-42-49 with 113 penalty minutes and a +7 rating.
Prior to his professional career, Swoyer tallied 14-58-72 with 106 penalty minutes a +17 rating in 141 career NCAA appearances for Michigan Tech spanning four seasons from 2018-22. Swoyer was named to the 2020-21 WCHA Second All-Star Team and 2021-22 CCHA Second All-Star Team. In 118 career USHL appearances for the Chicago Steel and Sioux Falls Stampede spanning parts of three seasons from 2015-18, Swoyer notched 13-37-50 with 84 penalty minutes and a +4 rating.
