BLUE JACKETS RECALL FORWARD MIKAEL PYYHTIÄ FROM MONSTERS
The AHL’s Cleveland Monsters announced Wednesday that Columbus recalled forward Mikael Pyyhtiä from the Monsters. Cleveland’s leader in assists and points this season posted 7-15-22 with 14 penalty minutes and an even rating in 23 appearances for the Monsters.
A 6’0”, 176 lb. left-shooting native of Turku, Finland, Pyyhtiä, 24, signed a one-year, two-way NHL contract with Columbus on August 13, 2025 through the 2025-26 season. In 66 career NHL appearances for the Blue Jackets spanning parts of three seasons from 2022-25, Pyyhtiä notched 4-6-10 with eight penalty minutes. In 118 career AHL appearances for Cleveland spanning parts of four seasons from 2022-26, Pyyhtiä tallied 20-49-69 with 22 penalty minutes and a +3 rating.
In 140 career Liiga appearances for TPS Turku spanning parts of four seasons from 2019-23, Pyyhtiä registered 31-32-63 with 26 penalty minutes and +1 rating and helped the club claim the Liiga Silver Medal in 2021-22 and 2020-21. Internationally, Pyyhtiä represented Finland at the 2025 IIHF World Championship and helped Finland claim Bronze Medal honors at the 2021 IIHF U20 World Junior Championship.
