The AHL’s Cleveland Monsters announced Thursday that Columbus activated rookie defenseman Luca Marrelli from the injured/non-roster list and loaned him to Cleveland alongside veteran defenseman Dysin Mayo. Mayo appeared in two games for Columbus this season logging 0-1-1 with an even rating and added 2-5-7 with 16 penalty minutes in 19 appearances for the Monsters.

A 6’2”, 185 lb. right-shooting native of Toronto, ON, Marrelli, 20, was selected by Columbus in the third round (86th overall) of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Blue Jackets on December 11, 2024 through the 2027-28 season. Marrelli supplied 30-141-171 with 87 penalty minutes and a +34 rating in 254 career OHL appearances for the Oshawa Generals spanning four seasons from 2021-25.

A 6’0”, 190 lb. right-shooting native of Victoria, BC, Mayo, 29, was selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the fifth round (133rd overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Mayo signed a one-year two-way NHL contract with Columbus on July 16, 2025 through the 2025-26 season. In 84 career NHL appearances for Arizona and the Blue Jackets spanning parts of three seasons from 2021-23 and 2025-26, Mayo contributed 4-9-13 with 35 penalty minutes. In 445 career AHL appearances for the Springfield Falcons, Tucson Roadrunners, Henderson Silver Knights, and Cleveland spanning parts of 12 seasons from 2015-25, Mayo generated 31-73-104 with 360 penalty minutes. In 25 career ECHL appearances for the Rapid City Rush in 2016-17, Mayo posted 1-15-16 with four penalty minutes.

Prior to his professional career, Mayo tallied 28-106-134 with 223 penalty minutes and a +28 rating in 248 career WHL appearances for the Edmonton Oil Kings spanning four seasons from 2012-16, helping Edmonton claim the 2013-14 Memorial Cup and WHL Championships. In 2022, Mayo helped Canada claim Silver Medal honors at the IIHF U20 World Junior Championship.
