MONSTERS ANNOUNCE PAIR OF ROSTER MOVES
The AHL’s Cleveland Monsters announced Thursday that the Blue Jackets assigned forwards Luca Del Bel Belluz and Zach Aston-Reese to the Monsters. In 14 games for the Blue Jackets this season, Del Bel Belluz posted 0-1-1 with four penalty minutes and added 22-35-57 with two penalty minutes in 53 appearances for the Monsters. An AHL All-Star this season for the second consecutive year, Del Bel Belluz currently leads Cleveland in goals, assists, points, and power-play goals (9). In 27 appearances for the Blue Jackets this season, Aston-Reese logged 1-4-5 with 12 penalty minutes and added 7-7-14 with 15 penalty minutes and a +1 rating in 25 appearances for the Monsters.
A 6’1”, 185 lb. left-shooting native of Woodbridge, ON, Del Bel Belluz, 22, was selected by Columbus in the second round (44th overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft and signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Blue Jackets on December 1, 2022 through the 2026-27 season. In 30 career NHL appearances for Columbus spanning parts of three seasons from 2023-26, Del Bel Belluz supplied 3-7-10 with four penalty minutes and a +1 rating.
In 172 career AHL appearances for Cleveland spanning parts of three seasons from 2023-26, Del Bel Belluz registered 58-83-141 with 26 penalty minutes and a +2 rating and was named to the North Division roster for the 2025 and 2026 AHL All-Star Classic. Prior to his professional career, Del Bel Belluz supplied 71-98-169 with 50 penalty minutes and +20 rating in 192 career OHL appearances for the Mississauga Steelheads and Sarnia Sting spanning four seasons from 2019-23.
A 6’1”, 203 lb. left-shooting native of Staten Island, NY, Aston-Reese, 31, logged 49-53-102 with 165 penalty minutes and a +17 rating in 416 career NHL appearances for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, and Columbus spanning parts of nine seasons from 2017-26. In 148 career AHL appearances for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Grand Rapids Griffins, and Cleveland spanning parts of five seasons from 2017-19, 2023-24, and 2025-26, Aston-Reese contributed 39-51-90 with 142 penalty minutes and a +31 rating.
Prior to his professional career, Aston-Reese notched 66-82-148 with 182 penalty minutes and a +48 rating in 145 career NCAA appearances for Northeastern spanning four seasons from 2013-17. In 2016-17, Aston-Reese led the NCAA in goals (31) and points (63), earned Hockey East Player of the Year and NCAA (East) First Team All-American honors, and was named to the Hockey East First All-Star Team. In 2015-16, Aston-Reese helped Northeastern claim the Hockey East Tournament Championship while earning a spot on Hockey East’s All-Tournament Team and the conference’s Second All-Star Team.
