Monsters Recall Garret Cockerill from ECHL's Reading Royals
Second-year defenseman appeared in four games for Cleveland earlier this season
The AHL’s Cleveland Monsters announced Monday that the team recalled defenseman Garret Cockerill from the ECHL’s Reading Royals. A 6’0” 201 lb. right-handed native of Brighton, MI, Cockerill, 25, tallied a +1 rating in four appearances for the Monsters this season and added 5-14-19 with 48 penalty minutes and a -10 rating in 57 ECHL appearances for the Jacksonville IceMen and Reading this year.
In 44 AHL appearances for the Monsters spanning the past two seasons, Cockerill contributed 3-11-14 with 32 penalty minutes and a -3 rating and supplied 6-19-25 with 59 penalty minutes and a -5 rating in 65 ECHL appearances for the Kalamazoo Wings, Jacksonville and Reading spanning parts of the past two campaigns.
Prior to his professional career, Cockerill notched 19-65-84 with 106 penalty minutes and a +10 rating in 122 NCAA appearances for Northeastern University spanning four seasons from 2014-18 and added 12-22-34 with 194 penalty minutes and a -24 rating in 103 USHL appearances for the Muskegon Lumberjacks, Des Moines Buccaneers and Sioux City Musketeers spanning parts of four seasons from 2010-14.
