Blue Jackets Report

The NHL trade deadline was relatively quiet not only for Columbus, but for the entire National Hockey League. However, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen has not ruled out making some changes to help the Monsters as the Calder Cup Playoffs near.

“Going as far as we can in the (AHL) playoffs would be a great for any of our young players,” Kekalainen told BlueJackets.com, “It’s really important that all our young players and prospects to experience that playoff competition at the American League level.”

"We’ll still make a big effort to try to improve our club there – we believe that we have a good chance to make a deep run in the playoffs and challenge for the championship.”

The CBJ now have four different 20-goal scorers, the most in NHL. Brandon Saad, Boone Jenner, Scott Hartnell, and Cam Atkinson all have hit the milestone. Saad leads the Blue Jackets with 24 goals.

It was also announced on Wednesday that three Blue Jackets players will represent Team North America at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. Forward Saad along with defensemen Ryan Murray and Seth Jones will participate in the tournament that takes place from September 17 to October 1, 2016 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
