Monsters Rematch Checkers, Continue Playoff Push

In the fourth of four meetings between the two teams this season, the Cleveland Monsters, affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, drop the puck vs. the Charlotte Checkers, AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, on Friday with full coverage, live from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, underway at 7:00 pm on Alt 99.1, AHLTV and the Monsters Hockey Network.

MONSTERS PRE-SCOUT: Following a 3-4 home overtime loss to the Charlotte Checkers on Thursday, the Cleveland Monsters enter tonight’s game at 36-28-8-2 on the season. With 82 points, the Monsters currently rank fourth in the AHL’s North Division standings and eighth in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland is led in scoring by C Zac Dalpe (32-22-54), C Mark Letestu (20-29-49) and D Adam Clendening (4-33-37).

CHECKERS PRE-SCOUT: In the wake of a 4-3 road overtime in over the Cleveland Monsters on Thursday, the Charlotte Checkers enter tonight’s game at 50-17-7-1 on the season. With 108 points, the Checkers currently rank first in the AHL’s Atlantic Division standings and first in the Eastern Conference. Charlotte is led in scoring by RW Andrew Poturalski (23-47-70), LW Aleksi Saarela (30-24-54) and C Martin Necas (16-34-50).

SEASON SERIES: Friday marks the fourth of four meetings between the Monsters and Checkers this season and the second of two clashes between the two clubs at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse this year. So far this season, Cleveland is 1-1-1-0 vs. Charlotte overall with a +1 goal differential (9/8) and 0-0-1-0 vs. the Checkers at home with a -1 goal differential (3/4).
