KEYS TO SUCCESS:

  • VITALY’S VITALITY: After posting an insurance goal in the third period of Cleveland’s 4-1 home win over Rockford on Friday, Vitaly Abramov continues to score at a point-per-game pace in his this-far brief AHL career. In five career AHL appearances, all for the Monsters, Abramov has two goals and five points to his credit.
  • OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN: Prior to Friday’s season-opening tilt at The Q, Monsters Head Coach announced longtime NHL forward Nathan Gerbe as Cleveland’s captain for the 2018-19 season. A veteran of 396 NHL games and 126 AHL contests, Gerbe becomes the 13th player to wear the “C” in Monsters franchise history.
  • DEPENDABLE DEPTH: With a matinee start following Friday’s opening night win at The Q, the Monsters will have to rely on their deep roster of 29 players to keep fresh and maintain momentum against a speedy Rockford team on Saturday.
