Monsters Look to Carry Momentum into Second Game Against Griffins

In the fourth of four meetings between the two teams this season, the Cleveland Monsters, affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, drop the puck vs. the Grand Rapids Griffins, AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings, on Saturday with full coverage, live from Van Andel Arena, underway at 7:00 pm on Alt 99.1, AHLTV and the Monsters Hockey Network.

MONSTERS PRE-SCOUT: Following a 3-2 home overtime win over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday, the Cleveland Monsters enter tonight’s game at 17-11-4-0 on the season. With 38 points, the Monsters currently rank third in the AHL’s North Division standings and sixth in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland is led in scoring by C Zac Dalpe (14-13-27), LW Nathan Gerbe (7-18-25) and C Mark Letestu (10-9-19).

GRIFFINS PRE-SCOUT: In the wake of a 2-3 road overtime loss to the Cleveland Monsters on Friday, the Grand Rapids Griffins enter tonight’s game at 17-11-3-2 on the season. With 39 points, the Griffins currently rank third in the AHL’s Central Division standings and fourth in the Western Conference. Grand Rapids is led in scoring by LW Chris Terry (20-13-33), RW Matt Puempel (13-13-26) and C Turner Elson (10-14-24).

SEASON SERIES: Friday marks the fourth of four meetings between the Monsters and Griffins this season and the second of two tilts between the two teams at Van Andel Arena this year. Cleveland shows a 2-1-0-0 record vs. the Griffins with -1 goal differential vs. Grand Rapids overall this season (10/11) and a +2 goal differential on the road (3/1) vs. the griffins with a head-to-head record of 1-0-0-0.
