Monsters Battle Laval in First of Two at Home

In the fifth of eight meetings between the two teams this season, the Cleveland Monsters, affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, drop the puck vs. the Laval Rocket, AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens, on Thursday with full coverage, live from The Q, underway at 7:00 pm on Alt 99.1, AHLTV and the Monsters Hockey Network.

MONSTERS PRE-SCOUT: Following a 6-5 home overtime win over the Milwaukee Admirals on Sunday, the Cleveland Monsters enter tonight’s game at 26-23-6-1 on the season. With 59 points, the Monsters currently rank sixth in the AHL’s North Division standings and 12th in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland is led in scoring by C Zac Dalpe (18-15-33), LW Nathan Gerbe (10-22-32) and C Mark Letestu (14-17-31).

ROCKET PRE-SCOUT: In the wake of a 3-1 home win over the Manitoba Moose on Saturday, the Laval Rocket enter tonight’s game at 23-24-5-4 on the season. With 55 points, the Rocket currently rank seventh in the AHL’s North Division standings and 14th in the Eastern Conference. Laval is led in scoring by C Alex Belzile (13-29-42), C Daniel Audette (10-20-30) and C Jake Evans (10-20-30).

SEASON SERIES: Thursday marks the fifth of eight meetings between the Monsters and Rocket this season and the third of four clashes between the two clubs at Quicken Loans Arena this year. So far this season, Cleveland shows a record of 2-2-0-0 vs. Laval overall with a -2 goal differential (10/12) and the Monsters are 1-1-0-0 vs. the Rocket at home this season with a -2 goal differential (5/7).

KEYS TO SUCCESS:

  • ZAC’S BACK: Cleveland C Zac Dalpe returned to the Monsters’ lineup on Friday following a season-long 14-game injury absence and in two home overtime wins over Milwaukee promptly chipped in three goals, four points and a game-winning overtime strike in his first game action since January 19th. Dalpe coincidentally inked a two-year, two-way NHL/AHL contract through the 2020-21 season with Columbus (NHL) on Wednesday.
  • HOT HANDS: Monsters D Tommy Cross is currently in the midst of a three-game points streak (1-4-5), while Cleveland C Mark Letestu has points in four-straight games (1-4-5).
