Homestand wraps up vs Grand Rapids

MATCHUP For the eighth time before Christmas, the Lake Erie Monsters (13-10-2-2) and Grand Rapids Griffins (13-10-3-0) will hit the ice tonight, with the action set to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena.  The Monsters have won four of the previous seven games the teams have played this season, and each team is entering tonight's action on the heels of a victory.  The Monsters topped Milwaukee 4-3 on Thursday to snap a two-game losing skid, and the Monsters have won seven of their last nine overall.  Grand Rapids is coming off a 7-1 win at home over Toronto last night, and the Griffins are 4-1-1-0 over their last six games.  The Monsters enter Saturday a point ahead of Grand Rapids in the Midwest Division standings.

LAST TIME OUT The Monsters trailed 2-0 through one period at The Q on Thursday, but the Monsters scored once in the second period and three times in the third period to hold off the Milwaukee Admirals for a 4-3 victory.  Roman Will stopped 19 shots in net for his second victory, and Mitchell Heard had a "Gordie Howe Hat Trick": a goal, an assist, and a fight.  Paul Carey, Stefan Elliott, and Andrew Agozzino scored for the Monsters in the victory; their first in three tries this season against Milwaukee.

WHO TO WATCH: MONSTERS Elliott's goal last game was his team-leading fourth power play goal of the game, and the goal vaulted him up to 18 points on the season; a total that also leads the Monsters.

WHO TO WATCH: GRIFFINS Over his last five games, Grand Rapids defenseman Ryan Sproul has a goal and six assists for seven points, as well as a plus-three in that span.
