Back on the Road, Monsters Go Head to Head with Wolves

In the first of four meetings between the two teams this season, the Cleveland Monsters, affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, drop the puck vs. the Chicago Wolves, AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights, on Wednesday with full coverage, live from Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL, underway at 12:00 pm on Alt 99.1, AHLTV and the Monsters Hockey Network.

MONSTERS PRE-SCOUT: Following a 4-0 road win over the Binghamton Devils on Saturday, the Cleveland Monsters enter today’s game at 5-2-0-0 on the season. With a .714 points percentage, the Monsters currently rank second in the AHL’s North Division standings and fourth in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland is led in scoring by C Zac Dalpe (6-3-9), LW Eric Robinson (3-3-6) and LW Paul Bittner (1-5-6).

WOLVES PRE-SCOUT: In the wake of a 4-5 home shootout loss to the Milwaukee Admirals on Sunday, the Chicago Wolves enter today’s game at 4-1-0-1 on the season. With a .750 points percentage, the Wolves currently rank third in the AHL’s Central Division standings and fourth in the Western Conference. Chicago is led in scoring by LW Daniel Carr (2-7-9), C Brandon Pirri (2-5-7) and LW Curtis McKenzie (1-6-7).

  • VOGELHUBER’S NEW ROLE: The Monsters received exciting news on Tuesday when the team’s NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets, announced 2016 Calder Cup Champion, forward Trent Vogelhuber, participating with the Monsters on a professional tryout (PTO) contract, had retired following a six-year playing career, effective immediately, and was hired as an Assistant Coach with the Monsters. A true Ohio hockey product, Vogelhuber was born in the Cleveland area, raised in the Columbus area, competed collegiately for Miami (OH) University and was the first Columbus resident selected by the Blue Jackets in the NHL Entry Draft.
  • PLUS PERFORMER: Cleveland blue-liner Doyle Somerby currently leads all AHL skaters with a +9 rating to his credit so far this season.
